There is a brand new hair color trend that’s arrived from across the pond, says master celebrity colorist, Kim Vo! He has announced, “
Italy has taken the hair color world by storm” with a new hair color high lighting technique called “lacing!” For you ladies who already experiment with the art of high lighting and low lighting, “lacing” sounds like the next new fun effect you can opt to play around with for some extra added pizzaz to your new hair color!
The new hair color trend Kim calls “lacing,” has arrived just in time to ease dried, summer bleached out hair, into new deeper and brighter, more enriched shades of hair color. Like all new hair color techniques, the results of this technique can be anywhere from subtle to dramatic depending on how much risk you’re willing to go!
The new hair coloring process involves an extra step to your regular foiling process. Picture this, on the areas between your regular foils, your colorist will take random sections and strongly back-comb them. Color or bleach, lighter than the ones used in the foils, will be applied to the ends left out from the back-combing. Kim says this new hair color technique results in a bamboo effect, meaning lighter or brighter on the ends of the hair. He also states that, “lacing” works with all hair types, curly, straight and wavy. When adding hair color, semi-permanent hair color (which is easier on the hair,) can be used as an option to using permanent hair color. But this new hair coloring technique can be done using semi-permanent, permanent hair color or bleach.
